With its perpendicular cliffs, Mt. Beigu on the riverbank is a natural fortification. Looking down on top of the mountain some 1,400 years ago, Emperor Wudi of the Southern Dynasty (502-557) named it, with an inscription "The Best Place Under Heaven."
