Zhouzhuang

Located 30 kilometers southeast of downtown Suzhou, Zhouzhuang Town was first a village estabed in 1086 of the Northern Song Dynasty.


An ancient town on water, Zhouzhuang is charming for beautiful surroundings and simple, ancient dings, and crisscrossing rivers and lakes. Over half of the buildings in the town were constructed in the g and Qing dynasties.

Another feature of Zhouzhuang is small bridges. There are 10 ancient bridges in the town.

Zhouzhuang Town is the best representative of the traditional and the modern. Apart from ancient buildings, the town has the most up-to-date tourist facilities, including holiday resorts, hotels, restaurants, and shopping centers.

The natural beauty of Zhouzhuang has made the town a filming center in China. Every April, the Zhouzhuang International Cultural Festival draws great number of artists, scholars, and visitors.
