Cultural activities in Suzhou are very active. Every day, the local people can enjoy operas, such as Peking Opera, Shanghai Opera, and Shaoxing Opera, and folk singing and dancing go to music concert. Performances of traditional musical instruments are staged in the Fisherman Garden at night.

There are many traditional festivals in the region of the rivers and lakes, such as the Lantern Festival and the International Winter-sweet Festival in Nanjing, the Silk Festival in Suzhou, and Taihu Fishing Festival in Wuxi, the Tea Festival and the Osmanthus Festival in the West Lake.
