Originally the study of Shi Zhengzhi fo the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279), the Fisherman Garden was rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. The tiny garden is a typical building complex of ancient China.
All structures here were built with wood and all doors and window frames were decorated with carvings. Flowers grow in the small yard among artificial rocks and hills. A section of this garden is being reproduced at the Metropolitan Museum in New York.
