Yizhou Pavilion

Built in the Southern Song Dynasty, Yizhou Pavilion became famous because Su Dongpo, a literary giant of the Northern Song Dynasty stayed here during his trip to Changzhou.

Temporary palaces were built here when Emperor Kangxi and Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty visited south China, during which time they wrote inscriptions to show their admiration for Su Dongpo. It was here that Emperor Qianlong held a grand party to celebrate Empress Dowager's 70 birthday.
