China Central Plains Tour


The middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River are the origins of the Chinese nation. The culture in this area is a national treasure and the local customs vividly demonstrate traditional Chinese culture. Thge customs in Shanxi, Henan, Shandong, Tianjin and Beijing evolved from the same roots and thus share many similarities. But there are also differences between regions. Visitors to these areas can discover the long history of traditional Chinese culture while learning about the Chinese descendats who live in various regions and seek a happy life in different ways.

B.  Tour Itinerary

Day 1 San Francisco/Beijing

Leave San Francisco with United Airlines' trans-Pacific wide-body jumbo liner and fly to Beijing.

Day 2 San Francisco/Beijing (D)

Arrive Beijing this afternoon. You will be greeted by our local representative and escorted to check into 5-star Prime Hotel after dinner.

Day 3 Beijing (B, L, D)

Visit the World's largest Square -- Tiananmen Square, 400-year magnificent royal court -- Forbidden City, royal garden Temple of Heaven. An authentic Peking Duck dinner for tonight.

Day 4 Beijing (B, L, D)

Excursion to the Great Wall. Lunch on the way. On the way back, visit Ming Tombs for 13 emperors. Walking on the Sacred Way and appreciate the scenery in the valley.

Day 5 Beijing/Xian (B, L, D)

Fly to Xian, capital for 13 dynasties, and check into your deluxe Grand Castle Hotel. Half day at your own exploration in this populous, modern and ancient city.

Day 6 Xian (B, L, D)

Venture out of the city and visit "one of the Eight wonders of the world" Terra-Cotta Army, royal palace Huaqing Hot Spring in the morning. Visit Wild Goose Pagoda and explore a big local market for groceries and clothing in the afternoon ¨C have a close look at people's life.

Day 7 Xian/Luoyang (B, L, D)

Take a decent tourist train Y6 leaves Xian at 9 am and arrives Luoyang at 4 pm. Transfer to your brand new Peony Plaza Hotel.

Day 8 Luoyang (B, L, D)

Visit Longmen Grottos and one of the largest factories in China: Glass Factory or Tractor Factory, in the morning; After a brief tour to the Ancient Tomb Museum, White Horse Temple, visit the village where people live in caves and you will be warmly welcome.

Day 9 Luoyang/Dengfeng/Zhengzhou (B, L, D)

Coach to Dengfeng to see the Shaolin Temple, China's most famous temple and Mecca for Chinese martial arts lovers. Visit Pagoda Forest, viewing Martial Arts Performance and buy swords and other martial arts instruments. Then continue to Zhengzhou. Check into nice and new Best Western Weilai Hotel.

Day 10 Zhengzhou (B, L, D)

Visit the newly built Henan Museum and foreign language school in the morning. Visit department store and a wholesale market in the afternoon, finding the city's role as the transportation and commodity distribution center in the heartland of China.

Day 11 Kaifeng (B, L, D)

One-hour coach drive to Kaifeng, capital of Northern Song Dynasty (960A.D. -1127 A.D.). Visit the Riverside Scene Park, Iron Pagoda, Dragon Pavilion and Jewish historical Sites: Kaifeng Museum which hosts the synagogue steles, the Jewish people neighborhood in Scripture-Teaching Lane, Jin Family Graveyard and trip to Yellow River which caused flooding that destroyed the city of Kaifeng and its synagogue in Ming Dynasty. Coach back to Zhengzhou in the late afternoon after tasting Kaifeng's famous night snacks market.

Day 12 Zhengzhou/Shanghai (B, L, D)

From newly-built and clean Zhengzhou Airport, one of China's bests, we fly to Shanghai, a rising economic center of Asia, and transfer to 4 star Equatorial Hotel.

Day 13 Shanghai (B, L, D)

In the morning visit the Bund, Jade Buddha Temple and Yu Garden; or, visit Kongkew area, where thousands of Jews had stayed to escape from Nazi persecution during WWII: visit the old synagogue building and attend the lecture by noted Chinese scholar on this field of study. Shopping along the Nanjing Road, the world famous commercial center, in the afternoon.

Day 14 Shanghai/US (B)

Transfer to the airport after breakfast and fly to US. You will be arriving home the same day, with memory of the wonderful China trip.

  • $2,699 per person from Los Angels or San Franciscot.
  • Add-on Fare: $100--$200. Please call for your city.
  • Land Only:  $1,799 per person. (without air fare).
  • Single hotel room Supplement:  $550.
