Tianjin Dishes
Tianjin dishes originated from what local people ate but the style of cooking drew from other schools and developed a style with many specialities. Long ago Tianjin was known as the place where nine rivers flowed together to become the Haihe River and the specialities include fish, shrimp and crab. There is a saying that Tianjin is a good place to taste fish and shrimp. The famous dishes feature lettuce, shrimp, crab and fins.

Restaurants famous for Tianjin food include Tianjin, Tianyifan and Bohai Restaurants.

Tianjin snacks are made mainly of flour and there are four types: fried with oil, fried, porridge and sweet food. The stuffed buns, Guifaxiang fried dough twists and ear-shaped fried cakes are famous in China.
