To greet the arrival of a new millennium, Harbin City has built a large project on the mid-river sandbeach of the Songhua River--the Songhua River Ice and Snow World Covering 28,000 sq. m, there are more than 10,000 pieces of artistic works in four scenic areas of Joy Square, Sound of the Century, Adventure Land and Cartoon World, fully presenting the unique charms of ice and snow culture and art works.
The Harbin Ice and Snow Festival and the Jilin Rime Festival are two representatives of China's ice and snow festivals. Other similar Ice and snow activities have been developed in Sichuan, Xinjiang and Hebei in recent years with typical local features.
