Taxkorgan

Taxkorgan which means "stone city" was the capital fo the State of Puli 2,000 years ago. It was located at the joint of the middle and the southern route of the Silk Road. Monk Xuan zang and Marco Polo had visited the city.

There were paths leading from the city to Mingteke, Wahejiri and Khunjerab Pass which was the only way to South Asia and Pakistan in ancient times. Now an international highway between chian and Pakistan has been built.
