Little Wild Goose Pagoda

Less than 500 meters from the south gate of the Xi'an city wall is Little wild Goose Pagoda. This hexagonal brick pagoda was built in 707 AD in the Jianfu Temple. It is 43.38 meters tall of a 15-storied structure (today 13 stories remain). There is an iron bell weighting 10 tons in the temple. When the bell was struck every morning in the old times, its ringing reached far and wide throughout the ancient capital. Monk wen Jing of the Tang Dynasty spent his remaining years in the temple translating Buddhist scripture after he had traveled to India and 30 other countries for 24 years.

Opening hours: 8:00-17:00
