Huaihua

Huaihua is located at the southwest border of Hunan Province on the upper reaches of Yuanshui River. It is connected with Guilin of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the south and the Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture and Zhangjiajie in the north.

Many historical places and cultural relics radiate out from Huaihua in this tourism area. It is also a major home ofthe Dong ethnic group. Important scenic spots are the Zhijiang Memorial Archway which witnessed the surrender of Japanesetroops, the Furong (hibiscus) Mansion, the Qiancheng Nanzhengjie Street, and the Huangdu Dong Nationality Cultural Village of Tongdao

It is in the Qixingqiao Village, 3.5 km ease of Zhijiang County, and is the former headquarters of the Kuomintang air force. An exhibition hall in memory of victory in the anti-Japanese War is nearby. The Chinese struggle against Japanese invaders is shown in many documents, pictures and material objects.

Furong MansionFurong Mansion
It is located in Qiancheng at the juncture of Yuanyang and Lishui River and is more than 40 km away from Huaihua. It was built in memory of Wang Changling, a famous poet from the Tang Dynasty. It is an important cultural relics reserve of Hunan Province.

Huangdu Dong Nationality Cultural Village of Tongdao
It is 10 km away from the county proper. The Dong stockade is well preserved. Here one can enjoy beautiful songs and dances, taste traditional foods, live in clean houses and learn about the customs of the Dong nationality.
