Gardens in Shaoxing


Shaoxing, a city in east Zhejiang Province, is 60 kilometers from the tourist city of Hangzhou. Known in bygone days as Huiji, Shaoxing is a famous historical and cultural city with a history of more than 2,000 years. Endowed with a rich cultural legacy, the city was home to so many famous historical figures. Such as Gou Jian (duke of Yue), Wang Xizhi (celebrated calligrapher of the East Jin Dynasty), Lu You (famed poet of the Song Dynasty), Xu Wei (calligrapher and painter of the Ming Dynasty), Lu Xun (modern author) and Qiu Jin (poetess). Who have bequested a wealth of cultural artifacts to this beautiful water-bound cite. Classical gardens are one of this city's rich cultural legacy.
