Basum Co Tourist Area


Basum Co, or Conggo Lake, located in Gongbo'gyamda County, Nyingchi Prefecture, In the Tibet Autonomous Region, is 396 kilometers from Lhasa City and 52 kilometers from the trunk line of the Sichuan Tibet Railway. As the largest freshwater lake in eastern Tibet, it is an important tourist spot in the region.

At an elevation of 2,300 meters, the lake is 15 kilometers long and 2.5 kilometers wide, with a total area of 37.5 square kilometers and an average depth of 60 meters. With clean water and elegant surroundings, the lake form a delighful contrast, presenting a scene of unique splendor all the year round.


As Tibet opens wider to tile outside world, wild eastern Tibet has been opening up, and the Basum Co tourism area is one of its greatest atractions

There is a holiday village in the Basongchu Lake Tourism Area, where pleasure boats are available.
