The Tongliang Dragon Dance uses large stage properties and exaggerated movements, and is accompanied by folk wind and percussion instruments. In the first Beijing International Tour Year Dragon Lantern Dance Contest, held in 1998, the Tongliang Dragon Lantern won the Gold Cup.

Tongliang Dragon Lanterns are now known all over the world, and have been sold to Japan, and many countries and regions in Southeast Asia, Europe and America.
