Airport

The airport is 27 kilometers
from the city proper. It is only 30-minute drive from the city proper
to the airport along the express way. If you take a taxi, you only need
to pay 100 Yuan for a trip from the airport to the city center. Shuttle
buses run from the Xidan Ticket Office to the airport once every 30
minutes from 5:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. everyday; and from the Art Gallery,
International Hotel or Zhongguancun to the airport once every one hour.
There are shuttle buses from the airport to the city proper all day
long until the last scheduled flight arrives. The shuttle bus charges
each passenger 16 yuan for a trip.

Beijing has several
railway stations-the Beijing West Railway Station, Beijing Railway Station,
Xizhimen Railway Station, Yongdingmen Railway Station, and Fengtai Railway
Station. Of them the Beijing West Railway Station is the largest. Passengers
in Beijing can go to the capital and main cities of all the provinces,
municipalities and autonomous regions in China by train, except for
Tibet, Hainan and Taiwan Province.

Beijing has a large number of taxis, and most of them are Cherod cars.
The fare rate is 1.2 yuan per kilometer, starting at 10 yuan for the

:Public Buses and Trolley Buses

There are generally two conductors on a large public bus, one at the
front door and the other at back door. The bus ticket price starts from
1 yuan. Public bus Nos. 1, 4, 52 and 57 run through the city proper.
Nos. 808, 801, 802 and other air-conditioned public buses run through
the busiest streets in Beijing, with the prices ranging from two to
11 yuan.
Self-service double-deck buses mainly run along the Chang'an Avenue,
Qianmen Street and Second Round-the-City Road. The bus ticket is two
yuan. |

Subway

Beijing has two subways.
The first subway runs in a circle around the city with 18 stations,
such as the Beijing Railway Station, Jianguomen, Xizhimen and Fuxingmen.
It is a main communications pivot in Beijing. The second subway runs
between Pingguoyuan and Xidan; and the No. 8 double-tracking subway
between Sihui Station and West Tiananmen Station. Jianguomen and Fuxingmen
stations are the two transfer stations of the two subways. A subway
ticket charges 3 yuan.
